The Palestinian news agency “Wafa” reported on Wednesday that the Warehousing Municipal Council discussed in its meeting a plan presented by members of the Socialist Party and the Labor Party, in which the city was asked to support the Palestinian people, its relations break with the racist Israeli regime.
The draft plan states that the Varieh Municipal Council commits to severing ties with Tel Aviv as long as human rights violations and violations of international law by Israeli authorities continue.
This city follows the Belgian city of Liège, whose city council decided last month to end relations with the Israeli regime, citing human rights violations, colonialism and military occupation.
The city of “Oslo” in Norway also decided to abandon companies that directly or indirectly participate in the illegal settlement of the Zionist regime. In February, the mayor of “Barcelona” in Spain also decided to suspend relations with the Zionist regime.
Following the announcement of the Belgian city of Veroue to cut ties with the Israeli regime, the National Committee for Sanctions of Palestine, the largest coalition in the Palestinian community, welcomed this decision and described it as “the tireless work of the Belgian civil society”. In a statement, the National Committee for Sanctions of Palestine asked cities all over the world to follow the inspiring examples of Verruyeh, Liège, Slovo and Barcelona in severing relations with the Zionist regime and supporting the Palestinians.
Recently, 10 European countries signed a request requiring the Zionist regime to stop the demolition of Palestinian homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, as well as the confiscation of their lands.
