The Russian newspaper “Kommersant” in an article reported the incident of the Iranian ship “Saviz” and highlighted the possibility of the involvement of the Zionist regime and Saudi Arabia in this vicious act.
According to Russia Today, an article in the Kommersant newspaper published by Russian analyst Mariana Blinkaya states: “The Soyuz has been in the south of the Red Sea for three years, not far from the Bab al-Mandeb Strait at the intersection of three Yemeni regions.” has been working in Djibouti and Eritrea.
The importance of the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait has made the region a battleground for regional and supra-regional powers, with each actor trying to expand its influence in the region and the East Horn of Africa.
Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, consider the security of the Red Sea as part of the national security of their territories and strive for economic investment on the shores of the Red Sea.
The author of this article writes, it is possible that some, by providing information to Riyadh that the Saudi ship was involved in the Houthi attacks against the Saudi positions, caused Saudi Arabia to play a role in the attack on this ship.
The writer further says, referring to the New York Times report on Israel’s role in the attack on Saviz: “According to an unnamed official, the Israelis reported the attack to the United States at about 7:30 a.m. local time and claimed that it was a response to Iran’s previous attacks on Israeli ships.
New York Times Posted a report on the issue recently which says:
An Iranian military vessel stationed in the Red Sea was damaged by an apparent Israeli mine attack on Tuesday in an escalation of the shadowy naval skirmishing that has characterized the two adversaries’ exchanges in recent years.
The damage to the vessel, which the Iranian news media identified as the Saviz, came as progress was reported on the first day of talks to revive American participation in the 2015 nuclear agreement between Iran and major world powers. Israel, which regards Iran as its most potent foe, strongly opposes a restoration of that agreement, which was abandoned by the Trump administration three years ago.
Several Iranian news outlets showed images of flames and smoke billowing from a stricken vessel in the Red Sea, but the full extent of the damage or any casualties was unclear.
The Saviz, technically classified as a cargo ship, was the first vessel deployed for military use that is known to have been attacked in the Israeli-Iranian skirmishes.
