The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which is responsible for the sale of US arms and military aid to other countries, announced the approval of the US State Department for the sale of military helicopters to Germany.
According to Anatolia news agency, this organization affiliated with the Pentagon (US Department of Defense) announced that Washington is going to sell Chinook-47 military helicopters to Germany worth about 8.5 billion dollars.
It was June 1401 (last year) when media sources announced that the German army plans to buy the Chinook-47 military helicopter from the United States. According to previous reports, the German contract with “Boeing” company, the manufacturer of this logistic helicopter, was announced for five billion euros.
Germany’s attempt to buy US Chinook-47 helicopters became a media issue in a situation where these helicopters are used for rapid air transport, rapid troop transfer, and paratrooper transport and launch.
“US Defense Security Cooperation Agency” in its statement on Thursday (yesterday) gave an explanation about the sale of helicopters to Germany and read it in the interests of Washington.
“This proposed sale will support U.S. foreign policy and national security by improving the security of the NATO alliance, which is an important force for political and economic stability in Europe,” the Pentagon said in a statement.
