Strikes will continue in the rail sector in Germany.
German commuters and citizens should expect more strikes in regional and long-distance transport at Deutsche Bahn in the coming weeks, according to Spiegel. The third round of negotiations in the collective bargaining dispute between the company and the EVG labor union also ended without results. The union was “extremely annoyed” by the rail company’s termination of negotiations and, as a result, predicted the prospect of wider strikes. At the same time, this union announced: I cannot tell you whether this will happen in the next few days or not. Currently we are still in negotiation mode.
EVG is not only in talks with Deutsche Bahn, but gradually with 50 other companies in the industry. An official in this union said: Negotiations with different companies are planned for the whole of next week. Of course, the results were nowhere to be found. Even at Deutsche Bahn, with around 180,000 employees, a third round of wage talks on Tuesday and Wednesday in Fulda remained without an agreement. Both sides blamed each other for this temporary failure.
Today, Wednesday, there were strikes in regional transportation in some parts of Germany, which led to disruptions.
Following the call of the German trade union to hold warning strikes in public transport sectors in many states, these strikes have started early this morning and have caused disruptions in public transport.
On Thursday and Friday, the strikes in the rail and air transportation sectors caused a lot of disturbances in Germany.
Passengers faced numerous delays and cancellations at several German airports on Thursday and Friday.
During the strike on March 27, both EVG and Verdi took action, paralyzing several airports in the Federal Republic in addition to local, regional and long-distance public transport. No train was running on the tracks for hours.
