Indian police managed to arrest the fugitive and separatist leader of the Sikhs.
According to the Euro News TV channel, “Amritpal Singh”, the separatist leader of Indian Sikhs, was arrested in the state of Punjab this Sunday after a month of absconding.
According to this media, efforts to arrest this 30-year-old separatist leader of Indian Sikhs began after his supporters attacked a police headquarters in February.
Fans of “Amritpal Singh” had stormed the police headquarters following the arrest of one of his assistants. The aide of the Indian Sikh separatist leader was suspected of violence and attempted kidnapping. During the attack by supporters of Amritpal Singh on the police headquarters in Amritsar, several officers were injured.
Thousands of police officers were involved in the search operation to arrest the separatist leader of Indian Sikhs during the last weeks.
According to reports, Amritpal Singh was finally arrested at 06:45 on Sunday morning (local time) in a temple in a village in Punjab state.
In recent months, Amritpal Singh became famous after promoting an extreme view of Sikhism and defending the formation of a Sikh government called Khalstan.
Thousands of people were killed during separatist violence in the 1980s and 1990s in the Indian state of Punjab.
