According to an investigative journalist, Zelensky and his accomplices stole $400 million in US aid.
Seymour Hersh, an investigative journalist, believes that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his top officials have stolen hundreds of millions of dollars from American taxpayers, and corruption in Ukraine may be equal to what is seen in Afghanistan, according to Mehr News Agency, citing Russia Today. .
Citing a CIA estimate, Hersh claims in a new article on Substack that Zelensky and his cohorts embezzled at least $400 million from the U.S. budget last year to buy diesel fuel.
Apparently, Kiev buys the diesel fuel necessary for the war from Russia itself, and in the process spends large sums of US funds earmarked to pay for the fuel. Earlier, there were reports about how the oil products of Russian origin entered Ukraine through Bulgaria and Latvia. The Baltic state plan, detailed by Latvian TV show Neka Personiga, may have violated EU sanctions against Russia.
Hersh has compared the level of corruption in Ukraine to that seen in Afghanistan, when a US-backed government was in charge in Kabul. According to his sources, ministries in Kyiv compete to create companies to export weapons and ammunition, and relevant officials benefit from bribes.
Meanwhile, the US government has announced that it has not seen any evidence of Western arms transfers in Ukraine. Hersh cited an intelligence source as referring to a January meeting between Zelensky and CIA Director William Burns. Apparently, this American official has provided a list of 35 generals and ministers that the CIA has identified as corrupt. Senior Ukrainian officials also complained that Zelensky was “taking a bigger share of the money than the generals,” the source explained, comparing the meeting to a scene from a 1950s mob movie.
Hersh claims that the Ukrainian leader’s response was to fire the staff of the Cabinet of Ministers, regional offices and other departments of the Ukrainian government.
Hersh’s sources blame Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan for the current crisis in the US government, which appears to be suffering from a rift between the White House and the intelligence community. The two top foreign policy officials have shown “hardline ideology and a lack of political skill” on the Ukraine conflict, the sources said.
