ISLAMABAD: The federal government has submitted a request to Nepra to raise the price of electricity for Karachi by Rs 6 per unit.
Nepra will hear the federal government’s request on April 3. According to the application, electricity will be expensive in terms of bi-quarterly adjustment.
Under a quarterly adjustment, electricity will cost up to Rs 4.45 per unit, while electricity will cost Rs 1.55 per unit in the second quarter of last year. Whereas people in Pakistan specially Karachi are largely affected by huge inflation and are struggling to cope up with their daily expenses this increase will be a big burden for them.
The hike has been decided to maintain uniform tariff while the additional collections will be made during April-June 2023.
