Sanctions against Iran have had no effect on the politics of the country.
According to Jordan’s Al-Malkeh network, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen admitted on Thursday that the sanctions imposed by this country on Iran have not caused changes in Tehran’s policies.
He further added: The sanctions imposed by the US on Iran have not changed the country’s policies to the extent that Washington wants.
Meanwhile, in March, the US Treasury Department announced on its website that it has added 39 entities and companies to the list of sanctions against Iran for allegedly “facilitating the sale of Iranian petrochemical products”.
On the other hand, not long ago, the United Nations Human Rights Council announced in a statement that Washington’s sanctions against the government and people of Iran and its actions against third countries are against international laws.
In a statement, the United Nations Human Rights Council, referring to the findings of two of its special rapporteurs about Iranians suffering from thalassemia, declared Washington’s sanctions against Tehran to be contrary to international regulations.
Alena Dohan and Obiora Okafor wrote in this statement: The legitimacy of unilateral sanctions against Iran under international laws and the legitimacy of the cross-border application of these sanctions are questionable. Companies outside the United States are required to comply with these sanctions to avoid facing legal or commercial consequences.
