Emir of Qatar: I am surprised by the late arrival of aid to Syria.
The Emir of Qatar criticized the slowness of providing aid to the victims of the Syrian earthquake, and at the same time asked for help to Turkey to overcome the disaster of the earthquake in this country.
Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, today (Sunday), at the fifth United Nations conference for less developed countries, addressed various issues, including providing aid to the victims of the Syrian earthquake.
According to Al Jazeera, the Emir of Qatar said: “I ask everyone to support Turkey’s efforts to overcome the earthquake disaster, and I am surprised by the delay in providing aid to the victims of the Syrian earthquake.” Abusing aid for political motives is not right.
Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani stated in another part: “The conference of less developed countries is held in the shadow of dangerous challenges. We have a shared global responsibility in facing the challenges of food security, climate change and energy crisis. The moral responsibility of helping less developed countries rests with rich and advanced countries.
He also stated: “The food security crisis cannot be solved only with emergency humanitarian aid and temporary solutions. Despite the wars, the food security crisis cannot be solved. We hope that developed industrial countries will take responsibility for making effective decisions regarding the climate crisis.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale, centered in the southeast of Turkey, on the 17th of February this year, shook many parts of the West Asia region and the Eastern Mediterranean region. Following this deadly earthquake, thousands of Syrian and Turkish people lost their lives and became homeless.
