According to Reuters, six days after the deadly earthquake last Monday, the Turkish government has issued an arrest warrant for 130 people who participated in the construction of buildings that collapsed in the recent earthquake.
According to the latest statistics released by Turkish Vice President Fuad Oktay on Sunday, 24,617 people have died in the earthquake last Monday and 80,000 people have been injured.
Following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in the southern regions of Turkey, the President of the country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, ordered the declaration of a state of emergency in 10 provinces, which took effect last Wednesday. “Adana, Adyaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Kahraman Maresh, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniyeh, Hatay and Sanliurfa” provinces are 10 provinces in which a state of emergency has been declared.
Declaring a state of emergency in a region increases the powers of local authorities and law enforcement agencies, and the government can suspend the implementation of some laws in these regions or enact new laws to better advance affairs.
On Monday morning, a large earthquake shook the southern regions of Turkey and northern Syria. Agence France-Presse quoted the US Seismological Institute as saying that the magnitude of this earthquake was 7.9 on the Richter scale in southern Turkey.
However, Turkey’s Emergency and Natural Disaster Management confirmed that a 7.4-magnitude earthquake shook the Pazardık region of Kuhramanmaraş in southern Turkey. This Turkish organization announced in its second statement that the magnitude of this earthquake was 7.7 on the Richter scale.
At the same time, Al-Mayadeen reporter announced that the residents of Latakia, Aleppo and Homs provinces, as far as Damascus in Syria, felt the intensity of this great earthquake. It is said that in the morning hours, a large number of residents of Damascus and the provinces of Latakia, Aleppo and Homs poured into the streets for fear of cracking or falling.
