According to Tass, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez said in a televised interview that Madrid hopes that the conflict in Ukraine will not last long and that Ukraine will not turn into a second Afghanistan.
“Spain is considering, supporting and using every opportunity to restore peace to Ukraine, peace in accordance with the UN Charter,” Albarez said of Brazil’s recent initiative to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
Earlier, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said the current mediators had “nothing to offer” to the parties to the Ukrainian conflict and proposed the creation of a new international platform to help Moscow and Kiev negotiate.
