Europe finally overcame dependence on Russian energy!
According to Tass, Josep Borrell, the foreign policy official of the European Union, claims that the bloc has overcome its 10-year energy dependence on Russia within a few months!
Burrell said in an interview with “El Diario” magazine: “We have eliminated our 10-year dependence on Russian energy within a few months!”
He added: “We experienced a tense phase of a sharp increase in prices, but now the prices have returned to the pre-war era.” Now the price of megawatt hours of gas has returned to the pre-war price, which of course was very high at that time. However, the sharp spike in prices in August was largely driven by perceived tensions in the markets.
According to Burrell, the tensions in the energy market are no longer related to the situation in Ukraine, but to “the structural problem of energy, especially the relationship between gas and electricity prices.”
Borrell also expressed his hope that the European Commission will soon propose a solution to the situation.
Burrell’s claim was raised while the beginning of Russia’s war in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, while imposing extensive sanctions against Moscow, Europe has provided significant military and civilian aid to Ukraine, but more than 10 months have passed since War, it seems that the sanctions against Russia have had the opposite effect and the green continent has always faced an energy crisis!
