ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that cartels want Gwadar port not to develop, but we will keep it operational.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway, the Prime Minister said that this project has been delayed for a long time.
He said that it is a very happy occasion that the foundation stone of Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway M6 is being laid today and it is by the grace of God that this responsibility has come to our coalition government. He announced that this project will be completed within a period of 30 months and will be the basis of immense benefits for the people of Pakistan. He also thanked all the concerned institutions including Ministers, NHA.
The Prime Minister said that I sincerely hope that this part of the motorway will also be of the same standard, which has been adopted in other parts of Pakistan. We will accept more but will not accept less than this at any cost. The Prime Minister said that there will be no compromise on the quality of the project. Good work will be appreciated and negligence will be acted upon.
He said that the completion of the project will complete the motorway from north to south of the country. The Prime Minister asked Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to keep a close eye on the project. It will be our joint effort to complete it on time and with best quality.
In his address, the Prime Minister said that this section of the motorway (Sukkur to Hyderabad) will be completed with a public-private partnership. The 306 km project will be completed at a cost of 307 billion rupees. He directed the Federal Minister of Planning to adopt the public-private partnership model for other projects in the country.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also announced the completion of the Sukkur Rohri Bridge project on the demand of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. This project was also started by Nawaz Sharif and today I announce its completion. He said that there is no doubt that the foundation of motorways in Pakistan was laid by Nawaz Sharif and its architect is Nawaz Sharif. We have to add more to it.
He said that the completion of road access from Balochistan to all parts of the country is very important, because Balochistan is the most important province of the country and the development of Pakistan is incomplete without the development of Balochistan. Gwadar port also has to be made operational. The bureaucracy has no interest in it. Cartels don’t want Gwadar port to develop but I won’t let this happen.
The prime minister said that Pakistan is based on Sindh, Balochistan, KP, Punjab and northern regions and Azad Kashmir. If we do not include them in the race of development and keep them behind under any pretext, then the Pakistan of Quaid will never be ashamed. The Prime Minister announced that as the Prime Minister, according to me, the development of Pakistan will be the one that will take the deprived areas forward.
Talking about the flood damage and rehabilitation, the Prime Minister said that Sindh and the federal government have done a lot of work in the areas where the flood water is still standing and there is still a lot of work to be done. He said that despite spending significant funds, there is still a lot of work and challenges left. Next week, Sindh Chief Minister will go to the flood affected areas and take further steps. We will not leave our Pakistani brothers alone.
