Bolton runs for presidency to fight Trump.
John Bolton, the former national security adviser of the United States, has said that he “absolutely” wants to “stop some of the disasters that Donald Trump (former president of the United States) has brought to the Republican Party” in order to run for the 2024 elections.
In an interview with NBC, Bolton, urging other Republican candidates not to endorse Trump, said: “I think that in order to run for office, you can’t just say that you support the Constitution, but you have to say that to people who question it, I will stand.”
He went on to say that if the Republicans fail to strongly resist Trump, “he will seriously consider the option of entering the election campaign.”
Bolton also posted part of his interview with NBC on Twitter and wrote: “When you challenge the breath of the Constitution, you are not American.” If the current Republican Party candidates for the presidential election campaign do not reject Trump, I am ready to enter the campaign.
The former US national security adviser refers to Trump’s recent statements. Trump wrote on his social network known as “Truth Social”: With this amount of fraud in this size and scope, all laws, regulations, legal articles and even the constitution can be canceled. With this in mind, do you set aside the results of the 2020 presidential election and declare the “rightful winner” or do you agree to re-election?
Asked when he would announce his candidacy, Bolton said “it might be sooner than a lot of people think.”
Trump is the only Republican Party candidate who has officially announced his candidacy for the 2024 US presidential election.
