America and Europe promise to rebuild Ukraine’s infrastructure.
The United States and the European Union are going to continue to press sanctions against Russia by helping Ukraine to rebuild and secure its infrastructure. This was announced in a joint statement by the United States and the European Union at the Trade and Technology Council in Washington.
In this trade council, the parties also emphasized their commitment to support Ukraine as long as the war continues.
According to the statement, the United States and the European Union will continue to support Ukraine in securing, maintaining and rebuilding its infrastructure, including its telecommunications and Internet infrastructure. They also promised to impose sharp and immediate costs on Moscow through unprecedented cooperation on sanctions-related export restrictions and countering Russian disinformation.
According to this document, the US and Europe also hold Belarus responsible for complicity in Russia’s war.
In addition, as the statement’s authors noted, the war situation in Ukraine has once again highlighted the urgent need to identify and address food and commodity supply chain vulnerabilities.
“The United States and the European Union recognize that the concentration of key food and commodity supply chain resources into a specific and limited source could expose our economy to challenging disruptions,” the US-EU joint statement said. Therefore, we plan to explore coordinated measures to strengthen diversity and make supply chain resources for key commodities more flexible.”
The parties also noted that they seek to create more favorable conditions for trade between the United States and the European Union by exchanging information on existing export restrictions. “We are taking further steps to strengthen enforcement cooperation between the United States and the European Union,” the statement said.
