The district administration of Islamabad refused to allow the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold a rally and sit-in.
A separate petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court by the Advocate General. The position of the district administration is that in view of the serious threats to Imran Khan’s life, they cannot allow the rally or sit-in. Imran Khan’s container was attacked in Wazirabad. The attacker has mentioned religious tendencies in his confession. A written confession of the assailant has also been made part of the application.
The administration is of the view that the assailant has mentioned religious tendencies in his confessional statement. It is feared that such religious fanatics may enter the rally and repeat such actions. There have been such violent incidents in Islamabad before, including the murders of Salman Taseer and Shehbaz Bhatti.
The administration further says that other PTI leaders including Fawad Chaudhry are giving threats. There are reports from security agencies that there is a serious threat to Imran Khan’s life. In this situation, PTI cannot be allowed to hold rally or sit-in.
The district administration of Islamabad requested the court to dismiss the petition of PTI.
