A request to stop the destruction of neighborhoods in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Emphasizing the negative consequences of the destruction of Jeddah neighborhoods on Saudi citizens, a human rights organization announced that this project has led to the displacement of more than one million Saudis and must be stopped.
According to Tasnim International News Agency, human rights documents show that about one million people have been victims of forced displacement and destruction of Jeddah neighborhoods without receiving adequate compensation.
According to Saudi Leaks, the Organization for Democracy Now for the Arab World (Dawn) announced: While Al Saud is expected to spend more than 20 billion dollars on the development of Jeddah, it seems that a very small amount of this amount will be used to compensate for the 1.5 million Saudis who have lost their homes, livelihoods and neighborhoods have been allocated.
The organization further emphasized: The demolition of Jeddah neighborhoods began in October 2021, but Saudi authorities demolished large parts of Jeddah neighborhoods in December without prior warning and providing compensation to its residents, and many of them were forcibly displaced.
The Democracy Now Organization added to the Arab world: Between October 2021 and May 2022, the Saudi authorities destroyed between 16 and 20 neighborhoods in an area of 4000 square kilometers. The speed of the destruction of neighborhoods in Jeddah is unprecedented in the history of Saudi Arabia, and the negative impact of these destructions on Saudi citizens can be seen. It will be attention.
A recently released map of the project shows that the demolitions, which are expected to be completed this month, will affect 1.5 million Saudis in 63 neighborhoods across 3 million square kilometers, according to the organization’s report.
