Greece: European sanctions against Russia have hurt us.
The Prime Minister of Greece said that the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia have backfired and damaged the economy of European countries.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakas Mitsotakis said on Sunday that Western countries have understood the negative consequences of imposing sanctions on Russia, but have no intention of changing their strategies.
Speaking at a news conference, he added: “The sanctions imposed against Russia have returned and damaged the economy of European countries.”
The Greek Prime Minister said: “How far is Europe ready to continue the current situation and if Europe does not find a way to stop the energy war with Russia, everything will reach a state of complete instability.”
He continued: “From the very first moment that we imposed extensive sanctions against Russia, and I would like to say that they were the most serious sanctions that we have ever imposed, we knew right away that our country had entered into a complex operation. We warned that this will be the price of our choice.
“Everyone knew that Russia could use gas as a weapon,” Mitsotakis said.
On the other hand, Hungarian President Katalin Novak said in a joint press conference with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic on Friday (September 9th) that the European Union’s sanctions are aimed at Europe instead of Russia.
Novak said: “Hungary is a member of the European Union, so we voted in favor of the embargo, but we have always emphasized that this policy is inappropriate.” We need to know who we want to hit. As we can see, the consequences of the anti-Russian sanctions are affecting countries across Europe as prices and inflation are rising.
He added: Those who proposed the sanctions expected the sanctions to affect Russia, but this never happened.
