Eastern Ukraine in complete blackout; Zelensky called Russia responsible.
The government of Ukraine has stated that most of the eastern regions of Ukraine have been blacked out, calling it the result of Russian attacks on the country’s infrastructure.
Some news sources have reported power outages in most parts of eastern Ukraine.
According to the report of Al Jazeera network, the office of the President of Ukraine announced a complete power cut in the regions of Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Dnieper and Petrovsk and to some extent in Donetsk. Accusing Russia of attacking the infrastructure of this region, the Ukrainian presidency said that it is trying to provide electricity to the infrastructure network of this region, especially the vital parts.
In response to this, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kiev has called the Russian army responsible for the complete blackout in eastern Ukraine.
He claimed that Russian forces attacked military facilities and vital infrastructures and emphasized that depriving citizens of electricity is a cowardly response to the escape of this country’s forces.
During the past days, the Ukrainian authorities announced that they were able to recapture several towns and villages in the south and east of Ukraine from the Russian forces.
Valery Zalogeny, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said today (Sunday) that the Ukrainian army has taken back more than 3,000 square kilometers of the country’s territory since the beginning of this month.
However, the Russian military called it a tactical shift of its forces in Ukraine.
