The Taliban signed a 10-year contract with the Emirati company for aviation security and ground services and said that this would facilitate international flights to Afghanistan.
The interim government of the Taliban has announced that it has signed an air service contract with a United Arab Emirates company known as GAC.
This contract was signed in the Taliban’s information and media center in the presence of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the economic deputy of the prime minister of this group.
According to the Taliban Media Center, Mullah Baradar said in this ceremony that the economic growth and self-sufficiency of Afghanistan is one of the main priorities of the Taliban.
He added that a few months ago, the Taliban government signed two contracts in the field of aviation security services and ground services with the Gak company, which resulted in the collection of huge income and creation of employment.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban has said that with the conclusion of the new contract, international flights to Afghanistan will increase and will have positive effects on increasing trade and transit.
Mullah Hamidullah Akhundzadeh, the Acting Ministry of Transport and Aviation of the Taliban, said that with the signing of this agreement, fundamental steps will be taken in the field of airport standardization, training of experts, ensuring flight safety and revenue collection.
Ebrahim Maroufi, the head of GAK company, also said in this ceremony that based on the provisions of this contract, efforts will be made in the capacity building, equipping the required departments and training the Afghan employees.
He said that the company is determined to increase international flights and provide standard facilities and services to exporters and importers according to international conventions.
According to this report, the nature of this contract is a public-private partnership based on which Gak will invest a total of 319 million dollars.
