New details of the condemnation of the Saudi woman activist.
A court document has revealed new details of the 45-year prison sentence against Saudi female activist Noura al-Qahtani for her social media activities.
According to Al-Khalij Al-Jadeed, “Abdullah Al-Oudeh”, the director of the Democracy Organization, announced to the Arab world that he has seen this judicial document and its details have been published.
According to the date listed in the court document against Noura al-Qahtani, the sentence was issued on August 9, 2022, after she was convicted on several charges, including trying to “discredit” Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. .
It is stated in this document that this Saudi activist encouraged participation in activities that harm the “security and stability of the society and the government”.
The accusations mentioned in this document included that Noura Al-Qahtani sought to “destabilize” Saudi Arabia by joining a group on “Twitter” that was dedicated to issues such as criticizing the country and the policies of Al Saud.
According to the same document, this Saudi activist has been convicted of “insulting” the symbols of the country and its officials and trying to free the detainees.
He was also convicted for possessing a banned book, written by “Salman Al-Awda”, a detained Saudi missionary. Al-Oudeh last welcomed a possible reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Qatar in a tweet in September 2017, which led to his arrest.
Noura al-Qahtani is also accused of using two “anonymous” user accounts on Twitter, one of which was “Najma 097”. It seems that some of the tweets were criticizing “Mohammed bin Salman” and supporting the rights of political prisoners.
According to various reports, Noura Al-Qahtani is not in good physical condition and she is the mother of five daughters, one of whom is disabled.
The sentence issued against Noura al-Qahtani contradicts the recent promotion of Saudi authorities regarding women’s rights.
Last August, the Saudi judiciary sentenced Noura al-Qahtani to 45 years in prison and Salmi al-Shahab to 34 years in prison for attempting to disrupt public order through the promotion and dissemination of news and information on social networks.
Madawi al-Rashid, a prominent opponent of Saudi Arabia, described the verdicts issued against Noura al-Qahtani and Salmi al-Shahab as unfair and cruel and said: “Issuing these two verdicts shows the cruelty of the Al Saud regime, which wants to show that anyone who opposes the Al Saud regime” Kend will have the same fate as these two activists.
The violation of freedom of expression and human rights by Al Saud, in addition to activists and Shiites, also includes princes and military and prominent Saudi personalities. Based on this, none of the sections of the Saudi society can be safe from the arrest campaign and other punishments of the Al Saud regime under the rule of King Salman and his son, and hearing news about human rights violations in Saudi Arabia has become a recurring series. In particular, the Saudi authorities have provided the necessary platforms for spying on the opposition inside and outside the country in various ways, including in cyberspace.
