LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son and former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz filed acquittal pleas in the Rs 16 billion money laundering case.
Both have already been granted pre-arrest bail in this case.
The special court of Lahore had summoned both of them for indictment today, however, Prime Minister’s lawyer Amjad Pervez excused himself from attendance for a day as he was busy with flood-related activities in Islamabad on behalf of his client. request.

The Prime Minister and the former Punjab Chief Minister filed separate petitions for acquittal in the corruption case.
Amjad Parvez Malik told the court that Shahbaz Sharif could not appear in the court today due to important official engagements, so the request for one day exemption should be granted.
He said that the FIA has named the defendants in the baseless case.
He further said that Pakistan has never seen such a devastating flood, all the government departments and officials under the leadership of the Prime Minister are engaged in monitoring the relief activities.
The judge said that finding 10 minutes for the hearing was not that difficult.
The lawyer replied that it was necessary for his client to come to Lahore for the hearing.
Hamza Shehbaz, on the other hand, appeared in court, with lawyers arguing that there was no possibility of conviction in the case and demanding that he be acquitted of the corruption case.
Shahbaz Sharif’s lawyer said that the accounts of the companies were also frozen under court orders, requesting the court to issue unfreezing orders.
FIA’s counsel present at the hearing told the court that the agency has no objection to unfreezing the accounts.
After hearing the arguments, the court issued a notice to the FIA seeking its reply and the hearing was adjourned till September 17.
