Washington accepted Tel Aviv’s report about Shirin Abu Aqla.
The US State Department, without condemning the martyrdom of the Palestinian-American reporter of Al Jazeera, welcomed the report of the Zionist regime army.
“Ned Price”, the spokesperson of the US State Department, reacted to the statement of the Zionist regime’s army about the end of the investigation into the martyrdom of Shirin Abu Aqleh, a Palestinian-American reporter of the Al Jazeera network in the West Bank.
This Washington official, without condemning the martyrdom of this American citizen journalist in the West Bank with the bullets of the occupying forces, thanked the military of this regime for the investigation.
At the beginning of this statement, it is stated: “The Israel Defense Forces (Israeli army) reported that they have completed their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Palestinian-American journalist Shirin Abu Aqla, and there is a high possibility that Ms. Abu Aqla was accidentally shot by bullets. The Israeli army has been placed. We welcome Israel’s investigation into this tragic incident and reiterate the importance of accountability, including policies and procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
This American official continued: “The United States has prioritized the reduction of harm to civilians caused by military operations and the response to it.” The Department of Defense (Pentagon) recently emphasized the need to improve our assessments and practices to ensure that civilian harm is minimized, and we will continue to share best practices with our military partners and allies around the world.”
At the end of his statement, the spokesperson of the US State Department tried to express his sympathy to Shirin Abu Aqleh’s family.
According to Ned Price, “Our thoughts go out to the Abu Aqla family in mourning this great loss, as well as to the many others around the world who took Shireen and her news reports home to them for more than two decades. Shirin was not only an American citizen, but also a fearless reporter whose journalism and search for the truth earned him the respect of audiences around the world.
Yesterday, the Israeli army claimed that Shirin Abu Aqleh, the American-Palestinian reporter of Al-Jazeera news channel, was killed by an Israeli soldier’s “wrong bullet”.
The Zionist regime claimed that this happened during the exchange of fire between Israeli army forces and Palestinian groups.
Before this report, the US State Department had made similar statements in its alleged investigation about this incident, which met with a sharp reaction from Palestinian groups and independent human rights activists.
The report of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs was published on July 13. In that report, despite admitting that the bullet was fired from the positions of the Zionist regime’s army towards Shirin Abu Aqleh, the United States resorted to all efforts to downplay the dimensions of this crime and exonerate the Zionist regime.
