Russia demanded the destruction of American chemical weapons stockpiles.
The Russian embassy in Washington asked the US government to stop interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and to destroy its chemical weapons.
The new American accusation against Russia regarding the poisoning of one of the opposition figures of the Kremlin was accompanied by the reaction of the Moscow embassy in Washington.
In a statement, the Russian embassy asked the US government to stop interfering in the internal affairs of other countries and to destroy its chemical weapons.
According to “Ryanovsti” website, it is stated in this statement: “Allegations about the existence of chemical weapons in Russia are false. Washington knows very well that in 2017, our country completely destroyed the stocks of chemical warfare agents.
Referring to the destruction of all Russian chemical weapons stockpiles, the embassy said: “This issue has also been officially confirmed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.”
The statement further emphasized: “The United States is the only country that has not yet destroyed its chemical arsenal. We ask Washington to stop evading its international legal obligations and not to interfere in Russia’s internal affairs.
Alexei Navalny, the pro-Western opponent of the Russian government, was arrested on January 17, 2021, while returning to Russia from Germany. After being poisoned with Novichok nerve gas, he was in Germany for 5 months for treatment. Western countries have accused Russia of using chemical gas against Navalny, a claim strongly denied by Russia.
Earlier, a court in Russia recognized Navalny’s group as “extremist” and barred all its members from participating in Russian parliamentary elections.
