According to media reports, Imran Khan has already announced that he will contest the by-elections on all the 9 general seats of the National Assembly vacated by his party members, for the other 2 seats of the National Assembly that are vacant from Peshawar and Karam. The nomination papers are likely to be submitted to the concerned returning officers today.
Former federal minister and central leader of Awami National Party, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilor submitted nomination papers from NA-31 Peshawar.
Returning officers of 4 constituencies including NA 22 Mardan, NA 24 Charsadda, NA 31 Peshawar and NA 45 Karam are receiving nomination papers from August 10.
Former federal minister Ali Muhammad Khan along with other PTI leaders submitted papers for Imran Khan in Mardan while former member of National Assembly Fazal Muhammad Khan submitted papers in Charsadda. Khan is the covering candidate.
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will release the preliminary list of election candidates on August 14.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on August 17, last date for filing appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers is August 20 while the last date for the decision of the Appellate Tribunal on these appeals is August 25.
The last date for withdrawal of candidates and publication of revised lists will be August 27.
The returning officers for the general seats of the National Assembly will allot election symbols to the candidates on August 29, while polling for these seats will be held on September 25.
Meanwhile, PTI will submit the nomination papers of former Prime Minister Imran Khan for the 3 seats of National Assembly that are vacant from Karachi.
Former federal minister and PTI Sindh chief Ali Zaidi told a press conference that Imran Khan’s nomination papers for the by-elections will be submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office in Karachi.
These 3 constituencies include NA-237 from Malir district, NA-239 from Korangi district and NA-246 from South (Lyari) district.
He said that Karachi and its people will once again prove their love for Imran Khan in the by-elections, PTI will start an aggressive election campaign and we sincerely hope that Imran Khan will also visit Karachi very soon. .
Accusing the People’s Party of rigging the first phase of local body elections in Sindh, he warned against the use of government machinery for rigging the local body elections to be held in Karachi and Hyderabad on August 28.
He also demanded a transparent role from the Election Commission which, according to him, failed to conduct free and fair local elections in 14 districts of Sindh in the first phase.
He also criticized Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) for its silence on various issues which it had always discussed while in alliance with PTI.
He said that census has always been an important demand of MQM (Pakistan) but when the current government delayed the process of census for months, they did not say a word. They are aware and they will give their decision in the upcoming elections.
