ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the preferential trade agreement between Pakistan and Turkey is an important milestone in the historical and fraternal relations between the two countries.
Addressing the ceremony of preferential trade agreement between Pakistan and Turkey, the Prime Minister said that he welcomes the Turkish delegation to Pakistan, congratulates the authorities for signing the trade agreement.
He said that the signing of the trade agreement between Pakistan and Turkey is a joy. With this agreement, the economy of both the countries will become more stable.
The Prime Minister said that this trade agreement is a great moment and an important milestone in the historical and brotherly relations between the two countries.
He said that after the visit to Ankara in May, this agreement has finally been reached as a result of tireless efforts of the sincere leadership of both countries.
He said that the agreement we have signed today will create new trade opportunities for Pakistan, our capacity and our commitment in this regard is extraordinary.
He said that this agreement will help to touch new heights in terms of trade and investment, we have been striving for this opportunity for a long time.
Shahbaz Sharif said that we are determined that this agreement will be fully implemented now so that the world will know how important it is for us.
Earlier, Commerce Minister Naveed Qamar along with his Turkish counterpart Dr. Mehmet Mosh signed the Preferential Trade Agreement between Pakistan and Turkey.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Mehmet Mosh said that today I feel happy here on the occasion of the trade agreement between Turkey and Pakistan.
He said that our relations with Pakistan have deep roots, in this context today’s agreement is an important milestone in our trade relations.
He said that efforts for this agreement had been going on for a long time on behalf of both countries.
He said that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Turkey in May had an important impact on the progress of this agreement. Since then, both countries were looking for common ground for this meeting, despite compromises on some sensitive issues. They managed to finalize the agreement which is in the interest of both the countries.
Speaking at the ceremony earlier, Commerce Minister Syed Naveed Qamar said that the relations between Pakistan and Turkey are historic, both countries have facilitated each other’s trade.
He said that it was actually the 2016 deal that got stalled due to some reasons, Prime Minister’s recent visit to Turkey helped to push the deal afresh and with our efforts in just 2 months. The agreement was finally reached.
He said that the trade agreement will stabilize the economy of both countries, under the agreement both countries will be able to trade products.
