London’s claim: Russia attacks ground targets with a defense system.
Claiming that Russia is using missile defense systems to attack ground targets in Ukraine, the British Ministry of Defense said it is due to a severe shortage of surface-to-surface missiles.
Following the daily intelligence reports of the British Ministry of Defense on the situation of the battle between the Russian and Ukrainian forces in the Donbass region, London announced that Russia has resorted to defense systems to attack ground targets.
Today (Friday), the British military intelligence officer said: “In the Donbass, Ukrainian forces continue to repulse Russian attempts to attack the Volehirsk power plant. Russian artillery attacks continue to focus on the areas around the cities of Kramatorsk and Siversk.
According to the organization’s website, the statement reads: “On July 21, 2022, Vitaly Kim, governor of Mykolaiv region of Ukraine, said that Russian forces used seven anti-aircraft missiles to attack infrastructure, energy facilities and storage areas.”
The British Ministry of Defense claimed: “Russia has increased the use of its air defense missiles in the secondary ground attack mode due to the severe shortage of surface-to-surface (surface-to-surface) missiles.”
The report claims: “Russia has almost certainly deployed S-300 and S-400 strategic missile defense systems, designed to shoot down aircraft and missiles at long ranges, near the Ukrainian border since the beginning of the war.”
British military intelligence explained: “These weapons have relatively small warheads designed to destroy aircraft. “They can pose a significant threat against soldiers in open, light buildings, but are unlikely to penetrate hard structures.”
The military institution added at the end: “There is a high possibility that these weapons will miss their intended targets and cause civilian casualties, because they are missiles that are not optimized for this role, and their firing crews also had little training for such missions.” .
Earlier, the British Ministry of Defense claimed that Russia’s offensive operations against Ukraine have decreased in scope and scale.
