Putin in Tehran; A trip that disturbed the Americans.
Putin’s fifth trip to Tehran, in the middle of the Ukraine war, to participate in the seventh summit of the guarantors of the Astana process, caused distress to the Americans, and of course, Iran’s response was that the relations between the two countries have nothing to do with Washington.
On Tuesday night, July 28th, Tehran hosted the meeting of the guarantors of the Astana process for the second time in person, and the seventh round of this meeting was hosted by Ayatollah Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and was attended by Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the presidents of Russia and Turkey. Of course, on Wednesday, July 11, 2019, during the Corona Pandemic, Iran once hosted an extraordinary virtual meeting of this format.
In this context, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Kanani, tweeted about the holding of this meeting in Tehran: “Our region needs regional friendship and cooperation to ensure collective security, instead of fake alliances and ineffective defense systems.” Peace, stability and common development can be achieved through collective dialogue and cooperation away from outsiders’ intervention.
In this regard, on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 28, Vladimir Putin arrived in Tehran to participate in this meeting and for the fifth time during his presidency, the Kremlin Palace and his first visit in the 13th government.
He had arrived in Tehran for the first time on October 23, 2006 for a two-day trip, and in addition to meeting with high-ranking officials of our country, he participated in the second summit of the Caspian Sea countries (Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan). Putin came to Tehran on his second trip in December 2014 to attend the third summit of the “Assembly of Gas Exporting Countries”.
