President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that like the previous government, the current government is trying to improve relations with America and Pakistanis living in America should support this effort.
According to media reports, the President while addressing the annual convention of the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America (APPNA) said that “Pakistan belongs to everyone and all parties have maintained close relations with the United States while in power.” have tried to maintain’.
He said that I know that like the previous government, the current government is also trying to improve relations with America, whichever party is in power, but as Pakistanis living in America, you have to support this effort.
President Arif Alvi said that he has lived in the US and knows that Pakistanis living in the US have close personal and professional relationships with other US citizens.
He said to use these relationships to help and dispel misgivings about Pakistan, reach out to your congressmen, women and senators and tell them why Pakistan is important and why it cannot be ignored.
He pointed out that American withdrawal from Afghanistan has caused confusion as America is trying to understand its reasons, you should play your role in this regard and make Pakistan’s position clear to your friends in political and social circles.
The President said that the Pakistani community should remain united on such issues and should not allow political differences to harm important national interests.
Meanwhile, a journalist present at the event said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s accusation of American interference in Pakistan’s domestic politics has damaged such efforts.
However, the said journalist was silenced by PTI supporters who were present there in large numbers and also prevented the President from responding to the journalist’s remarks.
President Arif Alvi further said that whether Pakistanis live in Pakistan or abroad, they cannot remain silent on what is happening to Muslims in India and Kashmir.
He said that when you meet American legislators, tell them how the current Indian government is treating Muslims and other minorities, explain to them how serious the situation is and how it threatens their existence.
In response to a question regarding the cipher related to the alleged US conspiracy to topple Imran Khan’s government, the President said that he had referred the matter to the Judicial Commission and now the Commission should play its role.
President Arif Alvi added that unfortunately the results of such investigations are never made public in Pakistan, even if it includes the murders of our prime ministers.
He said that all the governments tried to fix the economy but unfortunately we were not very successful in it.
