The White House communications director is stepping down.
The White House communications director, who is also a longtime adviser to the president, plans to resign later this summer, a source familiar with the matter said.
Following the wave of resignations in the US government headed by Joe Biden, this time it is said that White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield plans to resign.
Bedingfield, who is also a longtime Biden adviser, plans to resign from the administration later this summer after White House press secretary Jennifer Psaki stepped down in May.
According to the Reuters news agency, he, whose decision to leave this position was confirmed by a person familiar with his plans on Wednesday evening, was working as Biden’s spokesman during the presidency of Barack Obama.
According to the report, Bedingfield’s resignation comes as Biden faces near-low public approval ratings of his presidency. A June 28 Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 57 percent of Americans disapprove of his performance.
According to Reuters, a person familiar with the White House communications director’s plans said Bedingfield is leaving the post to spend more time with his family.
Previously, Saki had resigned from his position as White House spokesman to join MSNBC.
The American media also reported that since the beginning of this year, at least 21 black employees have left the White House or are planning to leave it soon.
