This report states: “Finland and Sweden on Monday (yesterday) concluded negotiations on accession (to NATO) at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, as agreed upon at the meeting of NATO leaders in Madrid last week.”
According to NATO, “Both countries (Sweden and Finland) officially confirmed their willingness and ability to fulfill their political, legal, military and NATO membership obligations.”
According to this report, the negotiations between NATO and Sweden and Finland were conducted by their senior representatives. The Finnish negotiating team was led by Foreign Minister Pekka Havisto and Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen.
The head of the Swedish negotiating team was under the responsibility of “Anne Linde”, the foreign minister of this country. The NATO delegation was chaired by Bettina Kadenbach, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy.
According to NATO’s announcement, after these negotiations, NATO member allies will sign the protocols of Sweden and Finland’s accession to this alliance on Tuesday (today).
After the signing of the accession protocols of Sweden and Finland, this issue will be sent to all NATO member states for approval, so that they may approve the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO according to their domestic laws.
