RAWALPINDI: Former Commissioner Capt (retd) Muhammad Mahmood, Land Acquisition Collector Wasim Tabish and 13 other officials involved in the Ring Road scandal have been acquitted.
The allegations against the officers involved in the Ring Road scandal were investigated under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. The Establishment Division issued a notification.
In the investigation headed by former commissioner Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah, 13 civil officers including former commissioner Capt (retd) Mahmood Mahmood, land acquisition collector Wasim Tabish were found guilty and the matter was handed over to anti-corruption.
The anti-corruption department registered a case and launched an investigation in which former commissioner Muhammad Mahmood and land acquisition collector Wasim Tabish were arrested. Political figures in the scandal had already been given a clean chit.
After the formation of the PML-N government, the allegations were re-investigated in which 13 civil officers, including former commissioner Muhammad Mahmood, were acquitted. In this regard, the Establishment Division also issued a notification of innocence of the officers.
