Clinton: Trump may pull the United States out of NATO.
The former US Secretary of State said that the United States may withdraw from NATO in the coming years.
The former US Secretary of State said on Saturday that the United States may withdraw from NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization).
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in an interview with the Financial Times that the country may leave NATO, according to News Armenia.
Clinton also noted that Trump may decide to run in the 2024 election. However, he added that he did not know who might challenge him in the Republican primary.
During his presidency, Trump called other NATO members “violators” for not paying their dues to fund the military alliance. He also described French President Emmanuel Macron’s criticism of NATO as “very, very offensive”. Macron had said that NATO had suffered brain death.
All 29 NATO member states must increase their share of the military’s funding to 2% of their gross domestic product.
The United States currently spends 3.4 percent of its gross domestic product on NATO spending. More than 20 member states account for less than 2 percent of their gross domestic product.
In addition to NATO members, the US government has forced other military allies to pay more for their security. Japan announced on Monday that it would buy $ 146 million worth of uninhabited islands for US military exercises.
