Hebrew sources claim that Tunisia and Tel Aviv negotiated to normalize relations.
A Hebrew media outlet claimed that the Tunisian government was consulting with Tel Aviv to normalize its relations with the regime.
The Hebrew newspaper “Israel Hume” claimed this evening (Wednesday) that the Tunisian government and the Zionist regime are getting closer to each other.
In its report today, the Zionist newspaper claimed that diplomatic talks were underway between Tunisia and Tel Aviv over a possible convergence.
However, the report goes on to say that the move is opposed by the Tunisian opposition as well as Algeria, which is trying to thwart it.
No official statement has been issued by the Tunisian government or the Zionist regime confirming or denying this report.
The claim comes as the co-ordinator of the National Consultative Committee for the drafting of a new constitution in Tunisia recently announced that the name of Islam as the official religion of Tunisia has been removed from the draft of the new constitution.
“Eighty percent of Tunisians are anti-extremist and against the use of religion for political purposes, and this is exactly what we will do,” al-Sadiq al-Balaid told AFP in a recent interview. “We will simply modify the current format of the first season.”
Asked if this meant that Islam would not be mentioned in Tunisia’s new constitution, he said: “It will not work.”
The actions of the Tunisian president have been widely criticized by Islamic groups in recent months.
