Islamabad :
Pakistan sends second consignment of humanitarian aid to war-torn Ukraine at the request of Radio Pakistan. Flew from Pakistan today, while another 7.5 tons of aid will be sent on Friday (June 3).
The report says that as a responsible and peace-loving nation, Pakistan has always worked side by side with the international community to assist countries affected by conflicts and disasters.
The financial assistance sent by Pakistan includes medicines, medical supplies, bedding and food items.
Earlier in March, the first consignment of 15 tons of humanitarian aid from Pakistan was sent to Ukraine by C-130 aircraft from Noor Khan base.
The decision to send the aid was taken at the request of the Ukrainian embassy in Islamabad, which had requested the aid along with a list of essential items.
The Foreign Ministry had suggested that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) should arrange for the management and delivery of non-military items included in the request by the Ukrainian Embassy.
The Foreign Ministry had sent a summary to the Prime Minister requesting that relief supplies be sent to Ukraine for immediate assistance.
Millions of refugees have fled to Poland and other neighboring countries as a result of escalating military clashes between Russia and Ukraine.
Ukraine has already appealed to the international community for humanitarian aid in view of the deteriorating situation in the country.
