ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has barred Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Hanif Abbasi from acting as Special Assistant.
A hearing was held in the Islamabad High Court on the petition of Sheikh Rashid against the removal of Hanif Abbasi from the post of Special Assistant. The hearing was conducted by Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah.
Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid appeared before the court along with his lawyer while Deputy Attorney General Syed Tayyab Shah also appeared before the court. On behalf of Hanif Abbasi, lawyer Ahsan Bhoon submitted his power of attorney and asked for time to submit reply.
The Deputy Attorney General said that the Cabinet Division has written to the Prime Minister to review the appointment on which Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that no public office can hold if the sentence is upheld and not nullified, Hanif Abbasi will be appointed as Assistant till the next hearing. Stop doing special things.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the court expects Hanif Abbasi not to work officially, hopefully Hanif Abbasi will not use public office till the next hearing.
Hanif Abbasi’s lawyer Kail Ahsan Bhoon pleaded not to give a decision immediately but to complete the arguments first on which the court did not issue a direct order to stop Hanif Abbasi from work but sought arguments in the case till May 27.
