Lahore: The energy crisis in the country has become more serious and the shortfall has once again reached 4,432 MW.
The energy crisis in the country is beginning to take a serious turn, load shedding is being carried out for 8 to 12 hours in different cities of the country, sources said. The total power generation has reached 21,568 MW while the demand has reached 26,000 MW. In contrast, the total power generation capacity is 36,039 MW.
Sources Power Division said that 5,302 MW of electricity is being generated from hydropower sources, government thermal power plants are generating 963 MW of electricity, private sector power plants are producing 12,554 MW, wind power plants are generating 305 MW of electricity. Begas power plants are generating 164 MW of electricity, the production of nuclear power plants is 2,279 MW, while power generation from solar power plants is zero.
Sources in Power Division said that load shedding is being carried out for 10 hours across the country, while load shedding is being carried out for 18 hours in high loss areas.
