Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, Chairman National Accountability Bureau, visited NAB Lahore Bureau on Tuesday to review the progress made in mega corruption cases. On this occasion, the Director General of NAB Lahore along with the combined investigation teams gave a comprehensive briefing to the Chairman NAB on mega corruption cases.
Chairman NAB will soon hand over checks worth over Rs 1 billion recovered from various housing societies to the victims during the ceremony. Addressing NAB officials during the briefing, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal reiterated his commitment that The investigation should be continued on the basis of merit only and without any repressed effect.
He said that NAB is a national body whose affiliation is with Pakistan and the people of Pakistan and their interests.
He said that NAB’s job was to remain active against corruption in all circumstances and NAB was implementing its strategy in practice. Referring to the NAB references, he said that during the last five years, the NAB has convicted 1405 accused by the esteemed courts which is a practical demonstration of the success of the operational and prosecution wing of the NAB. Appreciating the performance of NAB Lahore Bureau, he said that the initiatives and recoveries of NAB Lahore during the last few years have had a positive impact on the overall performance of NAB.
Chairman NAB said that NAB is the highest national body for anti-corruption and all its measures are always taken in accordance with the constitution and law. NAB’s performance has not only been appreciated by various national and international organizations but NAB has also been declared as the focal point of Pakistan under the UN Convention against Corruption.
