North Waziristan:
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that restoring lasting peace in North Waziristan tribal district is his government’s top priority and that he will soon convene a grand jirga of elders in Islamabad to find a solution to the current situation.
According to media reports, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif arrived in Miranshah, the capital of North Waziristan, on a one-day visit and addressed the elders of Usmanzai tribe. He was received by senior civil and military officials and elders of the area.
Also present on the occasion were Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Minister for Religious Affairs Mufti Abdul Shakoor, Advisor to the Prime Minister Amir Muqam and Member National Assembly Mohsin Dawar. Absence was noticeable.
According to officials, Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed briefed the Prime Minister on the current law and order situation in the area.
Addressing the jirga, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the people of North Waziristan had endured hardships and made unprecedented sacrifices for the motherland and the government would not ignore their sacrifices.
At the request of Mohsin Dawar, the Prime Minister announced the establishment of University, Medical College, Mobile Hospital and Danish School in North Waziristan and said that he would soon announce more development schemes for the district.
He thanked the tribal elders for their support in the fight against terrorism for a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan and assured them that the government would provide peace and socio-economic development to the local population as a result of the war on terror. Will make every effort to ensure
On the occasion, Waziristan Chief Minister Malik Nasrullah Khan Wazir drew the Prime Minister’s attention to the recent bombing of Waziristan IDPs in Afghanistan and called for an impartial inquiry into the incident.
On his arrival in Miranshah, the Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa received the Prime Minister.
Later, the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on the security situation in which special attention was paid to cross-border terrorist activities.
Shahbaz Sharif paid rich tributes to the officers and men of Pakistan Army for their success in defeating terrorism. They were targeting the infrastructure without any discrimination.
The Prime Minister said that thanks to the valiant efforts of our Armed Forces with the full support of the nation, we have been able to defeat and humiliate all kinds of terrorist organizations and destroy their infrastructure.
