In view of the dangers posed to PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered to ensure his foolproof security.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Interior Ministry to take immediate and effective action on Imran Khan’s report of security threat.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to personally monitor and ensure implementation of orders.
On the orders of the Prime Minister, the Home Ministry has immediately written an emergency letter to the Home Secretaries of the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, ordering them to take strict security measures for Imran Khan.
The Interior Ministry also issued instructions to the IG and Chief Commissioner Islamabad in this regard.
An emergency letter written by the Interior Ministry said that strict security should be ensured for Imran Khan wherever he goes across the country.
The letter said that security officials at Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence should ensure other necessary measures including bomb disposal.
In this regard, it was said that negligence and carelessness regarding security during Imran Khan’s meetings, processions and public activities would not be tolerated.
It may be recalled that Imran Khan will address a PTI meeting at Minar Pakistan in Lahore today. However, the Lahore administration has issued a security alert regarding this meeting.
Yesterday, Lahore Additional Deputy Commissioner Ateeb Sultan wrote a letter to PTI leaders suggesting a virtual address to a party meeting in Lahore on Thursday due to the “severe threat alert” posed to former Prime Minister Imran Khan. ۔
In a letter to PTI Punjab President Shafqat Mehmood, PTI Lahore President Sheikh Imtiaz Mehmood, PTI Punjab General Secretary Zubair Niazi and Rally Organizer Ali Warraich in a timely manner to avoid any untoward incident from them. Action was requested.
In a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Ateeb Sultan wrote that in light of the severe threat alerts received from the security agencies and the latest intelligence assessments at the district and provincial levels, it was recommended that the former PM Instead of going to Greater Iqbal Park in Lahore on April 21, 2022, Imran Khan should address a public gathering through video conferencing and LED display.
Replying to the letter, PTI Additional Secretary Information Hassan Khawar had told Dawn News that such tactics of the government would not discourage the party.
Hassan Khawar had said that the government should not be bothered by the PTI campaign.
He said that PTI chairman would attend the meeting in Lahore and the party would continue its campaign to reach out to the people.
