The Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden.
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, while condemning the burning of the Holy Quran in Sweden, considered this action contrary to all the values of civilized societies.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) yesterday (Tuesday) condemned the burning of the Holy Quran by a racist and extremist in Sweden.
According to the Anatolia news agency, the organization said in a statement: “Hussein Ibrahim Taha, secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, called the burning of copies of the Holy Quran in anti-Muslim demonstrations in Sweden a provocative act and condemned it.
“The demonstrations, organized by the Danish far-right party, heightened concerns in the Muslim world about the growing wave of Islamophobia started by supporters of the far right,” the statement said.
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation called this incident a clear evidence of the racist and xenophobic thinking of its perpetrators and said that such an action is against all the standards and values accepted in a civilized society.
At the same time, he stressed that he believes that this provocative action does not reflect the views of the majority of Swedish and European citizens.
On Saturday, a racist figure named Rasmus Paluden, leader of the far-right party in Denmark, burned the Koran in a Swedish neighborhood. The move, which was made under the pretext of freedom of expression under the auspices of the country’s police, provoked widespread reactions in the Islamic world.
