The United States called for the preservation of the historic status of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The US State Department expressed concern over the clashes at Al-Aqsa Mosque on Friday and called for the preservation of the historic site.
Friday’s clashes at Al-Aqsa Mosque between the invading Zionist militias and Palestinians trying to counter their illegal entry also provoked a US response.
“We are deeply concerned about today’s violence in Jerusalem (occupied Jerusalem) and on the Temple Mount (Holy Shrine),” State Department spokeswoman Ned Price said in a statement Saturday morning.
“We urge all parties to exercise restraint, refrain from provocative actions and rhetoric, and preserve the historic status of the Holy Shrine / Temple Mountain,” the statement said.
“We urge the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli authorities to work together to reduce tensions and ensure security,” he said.
“The State Department is closely following the developments and will continue to work closely with senior Israeli and Palestinian officials to reduce tensions,” the statement concluded.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett met with security officials to discuss the crackdown on Palestinian protesters in Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressing the crackdown.
The Palestinian Red Crescent announced that at least 150 Palestinians were injured when Palestinian youths confronted the Zionist army’s attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
