In a new round of arrests, bin Salman arrested nine judges on Monday, most of them well-known Saudi judges, Rai Al-Youm reported. These people were officially appointed by royal decree.
According to Al-Youm, these actions show that Bin Salman has either moved towards more punitive measures or that he intends to repair his distorted face by releasing former prisoners. The beginning of this action was the release of “Lajin al-Hazloul” and then “Raef Badawi”, a liberal blogger. However, these two people do not have the right to travel and are still under strict surveillance.
According to the report, Saudi accounts that published news of the arrests in the country published the arrests of these judges. Interestingly, these people were arrested at their workplace and it was intended to be a media act.
The judges were arrested on charges of “great treason”; An accusation under which Saudi individuals are sentenced to death. However, Saudi officials have not yet announced the reason for their detention; As in the past, such arrests were not made public.
According to the newspaper, among the judges arrested are three from the specialized court of first instance (terrorism), three from the specialized court of appeal and three from the Supreme Court – the highest court in Saudi Arabia. Another noteworthy issue is that these people were dependent on Ibn Salman and their loyalty to him was also evident.
