ISLAMABAD: The resignations of 123 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) National Assembly have been accepted.
PTI Information Secretary Farrukh Habib tweeted that Acting Speaker Qasim Suri had accepted the resignations of PTI members. The National Assembly Secretariat has also issued a formal notification approving the resignations.
Sources in the National Assembly Secretariat also confirmed to Express that they had accepted the resignation of 123 members of the National Assembly. Farrukh Habib demanded that the general elections in the country have become inevitable due to the acceptance of resignations.
Acting Speaker Qasim Suri in his order said that I received the resignations of 125 members, out of which the resignations of 2 members could not be confirmed, therefore the resignations of 123 members have been accepted.
Those whose resignations could not be confirmed include Prince Muhammad Nawaz from NA-12 and Jawad Hussain from NA-47.
It should be noted that after the success of the no-confidence motion, PTI members including PTI chairman Imran Khan had resigned from the National Assembly.
