Pentagon: We want to see Putin defeated in Ukraine.
A Pentagon spokesman said Washington wanted to see Putin and the Russian military defeated in Ukraine.
American Defense Ministry spokesman John Kirby said Russian speculation about not intervening in the attack on the train station in eastern Ukraine was unacceptable.
“We will continue to provide information to the Ukrainian military to defend its country,” he told a Pentagon news conference.
“The United States wants to see the defeat of Putin and the Russian army in Ukraine,” Kirby said.
“The United States currently has more than 100,000 troops in Europe,” he said, referring to US non-intervention in joining NATO.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also said on Friday that London and Berlin had decided to impose new sanctions on Russia.
“Putin has become a threat to Europe and must be defeated in Ukraine,” he told a joint news conference with German Chancellor Olaf Schultz.
