Riyadh Summit Statement: Yemen’s fate is tied to the Gulf Cooperation Council
Participants in the Riyadh meeting, which was not recognized by the Yemeni National Salvation Government, claimed that Yemen’s fate was tied to the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The Riyadh talks, which began last Wednesday in Saudi Arabia under the pretext of resolving the Yemeni crisis, ended with a final statement this Thursday evening.
Al Jazeera quoted the statement as saying that the parties present at the meeting appreciated the decision of fugitive and resigned Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi to form a presidential leadership council.
Meanwhile, Hadi today, under pressure from Saudi Arabia, handed over his power and that of his deputy to the council. Riyadh immediately expressed its full support for the Presidential Council and its supporting institutions to implement active policies and initiatives to achieve security and stability in the Republic of Yemen and to end the crisis.
A statement from the meeting, which was not attended by the Yemeni National Salvation Government and Saudi Arabia invited only its affiliates, said: “Parliament is asked to hold regular meetings and to strengthen the ‘independence of the judiciary.’ .
The meeting stressed the need to end the war and the “strategic partnership between Yemen and the Gulf Cooperation Council”, claiming that the issue of southern Yemen was on the agenda.
The next issue stated in the statement is interference in the internal affairs of Yemen; In a way, it claims that “the future of Yemen is tied to the future of the Gulf Cooperation Council.”
In response to the Riyadh summit, Yemeni Ansarullah Yemeni spokesman Mohammed Abdul Salam stressed that any activity outside Yemen is a comedy show and entertaining games by the aggressor coalition countries.
The parties to the Riyadh meeting claimed that cooperation between Yemen and the Cooperation Council in the fields of education and health would increase, claiming that crossings between Yemeni cities should be reopened.
