Lahore:
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has expressed their willingness for the PML-Q to be given the chief ministership of Punjab. The no-confidence motion process is set to begin on Monday afternoon. He made a last ditch effort to appease his allies, the PML-Q and the MQM-P.
According to a report, a senior PML-Q leader said that the government team led by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had promised that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar would be asked to resign in a day or two. Pervez Elahi is the preferred choice of the PTI government for his place.
When some news channels quoted sources as saying that Usman Bazdar had prepared a summary to dissolve the Punjab Assembly, a PML-Q leader claimed that the Punjab Assembly would not be dissolved but a change of Leader of the House was possible.
A coalition leader told Dawn that PML-Q secretary general and federal minister Tariq Bashir Cheema had told the government team that Pervez Elahi should be nominated as chief ministerial candidate before the vote of no confidence in the National Assembly. Be officially announced
Meanwhile, it was learned that after a public meeting in Kamalia, Prime Minister Khan took Chief Minister Usman Bazdar with him to Islamabad instead of returning to Lahore.
The PTI government team, which also included Defense Minister Pervez Khattak, left Islamabad for Lahore and met with coalition leaders Pervez Elahi, Federal Ministers Tariq Bashir Cheema and Chaudhry Monis Elahi, while the PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is present in Islamabad.
Sources said that in the meeting, the Chaudhrys reiterated their long standing reservations with the ruling party and their demands, including the Chief Ministership of Punjab.
A senior PML-Q leader told Dawn that since the government team could not deliver on its promise, the Chaudhrys insisted that their meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan needed time.
Tariq Bashir Cheema said that we did not see the support of PML-Q from the ruling party in Salik Hussain’s constituency and in my own constituency. PML-Q remained with the government for more than three years but PTI He was never taken into confidence during consultations on major issues of the country and Punjab.
He said that despite being an ally, the PML-Q faced opposition-like treatment from the PTI government.
The PML-Q spokesperson said that the government team assured him that they would brief the Prime Minister on the situation, adding that the PML-Q leadership would take its President Chaudhry Shujaat into confidence about the meeting and the next meeting would be held soon. It will be in Abad.
Sources said that Shah Mehmood Qureshi assured the PML-Q leadership that Pervez Elahi would be the PTI’s candidate for the post of Punjab Chief Minister as there were several factions within the ruling party and no consensus candidate. Will not happen
He further said that due to many divisions within the ruling party, it was impossible to elect Pervez Elahi as Chief Minister.
