The Islamabad administration has filed a contempt of court petition against the leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami (JUI).
In view of the possible sit-in of JUI on Srinagar Highway, the administration filed a contempt of court petition against the JUI leaders in the Islamabad High Court.
The petition filed through Advocate General Islamabad stated that the Supreme Court had left the matter of permission for gatherings to the administration and declared that the administration has the power to decide after looking into all matters.
The petitioner said that in the light of court directions, the NOC of the gathering was also issued to the JUI, but according to the report of the Special Branch, the JUI is now blocking the Srinagar Highway. Show cause notice has also been issued to UI.
In the petition, Mufti Abdullah and Maulana Abdul Majeed Hazarawi were made parties and it was requested that contempt of court proceedings be initiated against the parties.
The district administration had allowed the JUI to hold a rally in Islamabad on March 25, but the JUI requested a rally on March 26.
On this the management directed JUI to follow the SOPs of the meeting in which it was said that Srinagar highway will not be closed under any circumstances.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) while announcing the schedule of inflation march against the government has said that all the caravans will enter Islamabad on the evening of March 26 and will gather on Srinagar Highway.
Report submitted to the Supreme Court
In the Supreme Court, Advocate General Islamabad Niazullah Niazi submitted a report regarding the suspension of rallies of political parties before the no-confidence motion.
The report said that Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam assured not to block Srinagar Highway, despite court orders and assurances Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam wants to close service roads including Srinagar Highway .
According to the report of the police and the special branch, the JUI is planning to march to the red zone, which endangers the lives and property of the people, violating the NOC issued by the administration in the capital. The law and order situation may deteriorate.
