Zelensky: Wait for Russian missiles to land on NATO territory
The Ukrainian president has reiterated his call for a no-fly zone over NATO, citing a Russian attack on a military base near the Polish border.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky has warned NATO in a video message that Russia’s territory could soon be invaded by the Russian military, citing a Russian missile strike on a Polish military base on the Polish border.
According to AFP, while western Ukraine was still safe from Russian attacks, an airstrike on a Polish military base on the Polish border on Saturday night and Sunday showed that Russia had extended the war deep into the western regions.
Ukraine says 35 people have been killed and 134 injured in an attack on the base in the city of Lviv.
“If you do not close the skies of Ukraine, the attack on your territory, NATO territory and the homes of NATO citizens depends only on the issue of time,” Zelensky said in a video address to NATO officials.
With this introduction, he once again called for the establishment of a no-fly zone over Ukraine.
The United States and European countries have rejected Kiev’s request to impose a no-fly zone, citing escalating tensions and the possibility of a full-scale war between NATO and Russia.
The Ukrainian president called for more action against Russia, citing Western sanctions against Moscow.
Zelensky has previously spoken about US aid to Ukraine and Washington’s ability to help Kiev. “I’m sure President Jubaiden can do more,” he said. I’m sure he can and I like to believe he can do it.
