In a statement after the vote, the Turkmen president called the election a historic event in which the people elect a new president.
He stressed that the elections were held democratically, on an equal, legal and public basis. The official inauguration of Turkmenistan’s new president will take place on March 19 at the Oguzhan Palace complex.
